Funny things about Chloe...

She loves to look at our ceiling fan. Rob and I entertain her by turning the fan and the light on and off. In fact, she loves the fan so much that sometimes the fan receives more smiles than we do!! :)

She started looking from right to left and back again in rapid succession...so fast that her eyes don't have a chance to focus on anything and she may not only get that wrap around bald spot on the back of her head, but also a friction burn! :P

(I wrote this back on 17 Feb 2010....and haven't been blogging since) :P

Molly's Big Day

We took Molly to get her ears pierced today, she's been waiting a long time for this. I promised her before her last birthday (2009) that we'd take her to get her ears pierced when she could show us that she was sufficiently non-sassy/respectful (specifically to parents/teachers/grandmas and grandpas).

We decided this month that she'd met the requirements we had set out for her so we promised that Presidents' Day was THE DAY. :)

On the way there we warned her that it was going to hurt a bit. She wanted me to show her how much. lol I told her she was just going to have to wait and see. She said she'd be brave.

We went to my brother-in-law's (Cassidy) family jewelry shop. Cassidy's dad owns the shop and always does the ear piercing (although they told us if you ask for anything but ear lobes they tell you to go to the piercing pagoda or some place like that) :P and Cassidy is just fine with his dad keeping that job to himself but Molly said she wanted Cassidy to do it. We asked her if she wanted to be his "guinea pig" and she nodded. He told her that he was probably more nervous than she, and still she remained undaunted....she wanted Uncle Cassidy to be the one to pierce her ears.

They had a few different choices of studs for her to pick from:
  • gold balls
  • round cubic zirconiums....cubic zirconias....fake diamonds :)
  • princess cut....fake diamonds
  • round pink ones (those fake diamond things I can't spell)
  • pearls

She chose the pearls.

She was very brave, she didn't cry until we asked her if it hurt and if she was okay. Then she started crying. :P

She told us that the second ear didn't really hurt.

She really likes looking at them and says she looks really pretty with them on. :)

She had to tell all her grandparents about it today.

(All the previous crappy pictures are courtesy of Rob's iphone (good color ones) and my cheap-o phone (washed out ones)....but guess what, my sweet honey got me a new camera today, and he even took me to two Costco-s so that I could get the pink one...who's the little girl here?) :P

The following pictures are from the new *pink* camera! ;)

She told one of her grandmas tonight on the phone that she can't even tell that the earrings are in now and that sometimes she forgets that her ears are pierced. ;)

I guess it's more of a "Ruby Red"....according to the website.... :)

See How She Grows...

Chloe had a check up with the pediatrician this week, the day after she turned 6 weeks and discovered she's almost off the charts...

  • Length: 23 3/4 (grown almost 2 inches) 98th percentile

  • Weight: 11 lbs 2.5 oz (gained more than 2 lbs) 90th percentile

  • Head circ: 40 cm (grown 2 cm) 90th percentile

Also it seems that the day she turned 6 weeks she started smiling all the time and being very interactive. I wasn't sure before that day if her smiles were real or not, but that day I could tell they were!

(My camera broke this week, so all my pictures are from my camera on my phone. :-/ I guess I should be thankful that I'm not completely "camera-less.")

Bathtime With Daddy

Chloe got to take a bath with her daddy for the first time last Saturday (Feb 6, 2010). Rob played with her, washed her and let her float almost by herself. He said she was pretty buoyant.

Photo Shoot at Sears

I took Chloe to get her picture taken at Sears on her "one month birthday"---I'm not sure if I'll go back---it's not really the art of 'Somewhere in Time' but it's better than nothing.

Chloe at 2 Weeks

I just found a file of pics and videos from when Chloe was 2 weeks old that I forgot about....

Is that a smile? We take what we can get. :) Just hangin' out...trying to capture the cute newborn baby noises. :P

Sisters

I love this picture that Rob took of Molly and Chloe with his iphone when Chloe was just a few days old. He made it his wall-paper on his phone and I just love it every time I use his phone so I had him send it to me so I could post it.

Sunday at Home with Daddy

We're not ready to bring Chloe to church yet so I pumped some milk and we tried a bottle for the first time (Sunday, January 31) and after we knew she'd take it, I headed off to church and left her home with daddy. I went to an 11:00 sacrament meeting at another ward so that Rob could take the kids to ours at one but I got home and Chloe was having such a good time with her daddy, and he was enjoying her so much that I decided I could use another dose of church and they could use more time together so I took the kids and went for two more hours. (That was about all my recovering tail-bone could take).

Daddy was excited to get to feed her for his first time and Chloe seemed to take the bottle pretty well.

They took a nap together during church and another nap after church. I came in and found my sweet honey sleeping next to my sweet baby girl. What a precious sight they were! I was afraid I'd wake them up taking pics, but it was a risk I couldn't resist!! :)

**Molly got to feed Chloe for the first time as well that evening, there was a little left in her bottle from earlier. Molly also got to hold her up on her shoulder in burping position for the first time.

**Ben asked to hold her and held her for quite a while. He'd only asked/held her 2 or 3 times previously. He's very cute/sweet with her though.

(Too bad my camera was upstairs and I didn't get to document these fun things with the kids... At least Paula took a pic of Molly holding Chloe up on her shoulder.) :P
