Grandma and Grandpa invited us to their children’s service at their church. It starts at 9:45 a.m. and we wanted to be early. So we got up and got ready and left the hotel at 9. We ate a few things at the continental breakfast but wanted more so when we got to the church at 9:20 we decided to try our luck at grabbing something to eat. We went to a Wild Oats that was around the corner and grabbed some food…stuffing our faces as fast as we could and made it back at 9:40. The service is a live puppet show called K’Deo. They sing and dance and do a skit with a message. Their uncle William is the star of the show dressed as a life size frog looking guy named Bernard (I’m not exactly sure what he is but he’s green with a big green head and he wears overalls). It’s pretty entertaining and well put together.

We got some lunch after that and then we headed to Sabino Canyon for a tram ride up through Sabino National Forest with Grandma C, Grandpa D, Uncle W, Aunt D, and cousin L and cousin E. The funny thing is that it’s like a forest of pine trees in the mountains…except they are saguaro cacti instead of pine trees. We didn’t get to go all the way up the mountain because last year the road was completely washed out from a huge flash flood and they’ve only got it replaced about halfway up.

Grandma hanging on to BR as we drove over one of several "water falls" along the way.

After a relaxing afternoon at grandma and grandpa’s house...
(while MC and her little cousin L who was the "master of ceremonies" and "party planner" decorated), we had an early birthday party for MC. She was ecstatic to know she’d be getting a double birthday, an Arizona one and a Utah one. :) All were given party hats to wear…but by the time dinner was served only a select few die hards were still donning their party paraphernalia…besides the birthday girl…hats off to Dad, Grandpa, and Uncle W!!

Party agenda:
Eat Dinner: Bratwursts, Chicken, Baked Beans, Baby Carrots, Chips
Open Presents
Eat Cake and Ice cream
Play with presents

Around 7:30 we were all beat and ready to call it a night so we headed back to the hotel and went to bed.
(Well…the kids went to bed and we watched “Jane Austen Book Club”…definitely one of GM’s favorite movies!!) ;)
