My kids are so sweet. For a few weeks prior to Mother's Day MC started making me secret little projects/cards/pictures in the art corner and whenever I was over there she would tell me that I couldn't look because it was for Mother's Day. So on Mother's Day she gave me a gift bag full of them and I wish I had a scanner to show them all, they're very sweet. I'll have to settle for a transcription of a letter she wrote:
"(Heart) Dear Mommy,
I love you mommy (heart)!
I love you because you make binner fore use. You alse col me cutepie and she give me kissis and hug. I love you so much!
Love, molly Woellhaf. Mommy!"
BR came home from church and gave me a big hug and kiss with a wish for a happy Mother's Day and a cute letter:
My Mother is the greatest Mom because: "My mom gives me the best kisses and hugs. My mom is the cook and special trip planner. I love you so with your smiling face. I love you with your help with homework."
I love you! Happy Mother's Day!
"Ben"
(And then there was an illustration of he and I sitting together at church on Mother's Day with my corsage on that the kids and GM got me.)
My kids are amazing! I'm so blessed to be a part of their lives and I can't imagine life without them!!!

I guess it really does work!!
I realized tonight, when GM's dad cussed him out for not telling his mom that he's been offered a new job at work, that we haven't really told anybody. He's VERY excited though because it's what we've been hoping for and asking Heavenly Father for. (I must admit that I didn't think it would just fall in his lap like "The Secret" and Carol Tuttle seem to suggest. I thought we'd have to go out and look for the job that he wanted.)
The things that GM really didn't like about his current job:
• BORING
• The general feeling (inside and outside the department) that their department contributed nothing of value (identifying the mistakes made by loan officers in the loans given by the credit union)
• Whiny employees with petty complaints about each other
• Other employee issues that aren't fun to deal with
• Not investigating or in any way dealing with fraud (which he very much enjoyed about his last position)
Well his SVP decided to change the purpose of his department (which confirmed every body's feelings) to be Risk Analysis. In the midst of their discussions they decided to also create a Fraud Analysis Manager. This position would be independent (no pesky employees), a lateral position to his current one, and involved with fraud prevention. They asked him to write a proposal for the new jobs/departments and submit them. Then they told him that before they posted any of the jobs they'd let him pick which one he wanted. He really did weigh the pros and cons and study it out, but in the end he picked the one I thought he would. I'm so happy for him because he really hasn't liked his job ever since he's had the "Loan Review" position. So we've been praying for him to find something new, and he was on the verge of telling them that he's had it when they offered him a job that he's excited to accept!!
Then to top it all off he wasn't supposed to get any kind of a raise with his new position (since it's lateral) but he talked them into one after all!! Serendipity!! :)

Good News
GM went and asked a recruiter at his work if they look at what institution a prospective employee obtains their degree from. He said yes, and that they look for different institutions depending on the field. So GM asked how an accounting degree from U of P would be considered and the guy told him that it's just fine. The guy said he figured he'd be better off just continuing with U of P than backtracking and wasting more time and money. Whew, I guess we're going ahead with the original plan...until it changes. Just like all y'all told me, it's working out. :P
(However, as a side note, GM has the legal department of U of P all riled up and looking into it because they're supposedly accredited by an acceptable institution so there should be no problem.) :P

Some Solutions:
Thanks for all the ideas and sympathy.
Rob came home with a few ideas (I was more distraught about this than my own transfer problems back in the day...ironically, he ended up cheering me up):
In order of his preference:
Best: see if the crappy community college here (that IS accepted by other Utah schools) will take any and get an Associates from them.
Second: see if there is another correspondence program that would be better recognized (like Wayne said).
Third: (like Diana suggested) go on to get a Bachelor’s (after first making sure it’ll be accepted by the Master’s programs that he’s interested in) from U of P and then transfer. (It’s worst to him because of his discovery of how poor their rep seems to be…but ultimately it achieves his objective: a Bachelor’s degree.)

What do you do when it all seems to go wrong...
My husband is very discouraged today. He's going to be finishing his associates degree through University of Phoenix in two weeks! Yesterday he was thrilled and ready to take the next step. Today he went and met with a counselor at BYU to discuss options there and look into an accounting degree. The counselor informed him that not only would he not be able to get any credit from those classes at U of P but that he would have to take the ACT and the SAT to get in AND FURTHER MORE that no other institutions in Utah will accept the credit either!! Needless to say he feels pretty down about all the lost time, money, work...etc. I've been making calls all day trying to get a different story from ANY university in Utah....but it's been fruitless. I'm trying to be optimistic about it, thinking there's got to be a loop hole, or some way to get them accepted. He was trying to follow the prophet's counsel, to get an education. That means he'll be blessed, right??? I just want to make it all okay for him and so far I’ve been able to do diddly squat! :(
Spring Break
Spring Break started last Thursday for my kids so we started out the weekend with a sleepover. (My sis and her husband had stake temple night so we paid them back some of our babysitting debt).
MC often plays under our countertop height kitchen table. This evening she and her cousin were playing under there but they got shy and ran upstairs anytime they felt anybody watching them. So I offered to make a fort out of the table and sheets so that they could play undisturbed. :P They were all over that idea. Well, just as I finished with their fort and start walking up the stairs, the boys, BR and his cousin, walked over, took one look at the girls' fort and said in unison, "No fair!!" They then came and asked me if they could have a fort too. Well...okay. :) (Forts were one of my favorite things when I was a kid....and apparently I'm still a sucker for them). :P
I started to build the boys a fort in the living room but it wasn't so easy (no pre-maid support structure like a table over which I can drape sheets). I went out to the loft to grab some string and more blankets and then started constructing. GM finished his homework shortly after I got the string so he came down and helped me. It ended up taking up our whole living room. (We had to include the TV in it so they could still watch their movie (The Seeker) and play the Wii. They wanted to sleep in the forts (all except my niece that's BR's age, she was happy to have a bedroom all to herself) :). They also wanted to stay up late playing the Wii. In the end MC went to sleep before anybody (probably around 11 or 11:30. She went to her table fort and fell fast asleep before anybody knew it. At this point, her little cousin decided she wanted to sleep in the big fort with the boys so she went and lay down in there waiting for them to get tired too. At 12:30 I called lights out so they all went to bed.
The next morning the house was quiet and peaceful till almost eleven o’clock!! MC woke up just before ten when my visiting teachers came. I chatted with them on the porch so the rest wouldn’t be disturbed. (I was shocked that they slept so late, usually when they have late sleepovers their back up again at the crack of dawn!)
The kids played in the forts all day and then we went over to dinner and a movie at my sister’s house. (We left her kids there this time) :P.
When we got home BR and MC asked if they could sleep in the forts again. We said they could with the condition that they help clean them all up in the morning. After a lazy morning of reading and playing in the forts, we finally cleaned them all up.
